Ana Chavez, Editor-In-Chief

Ana Chavez is a Senior and one of the co-editors of the Eye. This is her second year as a reporter, and she has been attending SAS since kindergarten. Some of her hobbies include baking cookies, organizing her room, and annoying her older brother. She can be contacted at

Christen Yu is a senior and one of the co-editors for the eye this year. She has been a student at Singapore American School for fourteen years, and despite having been born in Southern California, she considers Singapore her home. A few of her favorite things include wasting time and money on Bachelor, Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise episodes, and overusing the snapchat dog filter. Rosie Hogan, Editor-In-Chief

Rosie Hogan is a senior and one of the co-editors of The Eye. Rosie has lived in Singapore for the majority of her life but goes back home to the states for her summers. When she’s not busy writing you can find her eating grilled cheese sandwiches, jamming out to Taylor Swift and watching Criminal Minds. She can be contacted at

Aditi Balasubramanian is a sophomore and has been at SAS for one year. This is her first year being a part of the eye. She loves reading dramatic novels and writing poems. In her free time, she can be seen watching ‘Gilmore Girls’ or ‘One Tree Hill’ and eating anything with the word chocolate in it. She can be contacted at balasubram47401@sas.edu.sg.

Natalie Chassagne, Reporter

Natalie Chassagne is a senior who has spent the majority of her life in SAS, moving here when she was 4 years old. This is her first year being part of The Eye! Julie Chung is a senior and it’s her second year as a reporter of the Eye. She is Korean and has been living in Singapore for 13 years and it’s her 7th year at SAS. Flissy Ford, Reporter

Flissy Ford is a senior and a first year reporter for The Eye. This is her 3rd year at SAS, originally from London, but has also lived in the states for a majority of her life. When she is not catching up on sleep or playing tennis, you can find her drinking bubble tea, or watching Bachelor in Paradise. She can be contacted at ford46576@sas.edu.sg.

Ashley Hyun is a second-year reporter for The Eye. She is a senior and it is her 7th year at SAS. Ashley was born in Korea but has lived in Singapore for 11 years. Her hobbies include listening to music, hanging out with friends and watching movies. She can be contacted at hyun35537@sas.edu.sg.

Mi Le Jang, Reporter

Mi Le Jang is a sophomore, and this is her first year at the Eye. Born and raised in Singapore, she is now attending her 12th year at SAS. She enjoys watching TV, taking photos, calling her friends, and spending time with her family. She can be contacted at jang30003@sas.edu.sg.

Jennifer Jung is a senior this year, and it is her second year as a reporter for the Eye. Even though she is originally from Korea, she has been in Singapore since she was five. Jenny Kim, Reporter

Jenny Kim is a senior, and this is her second year as a reporter of the Eye. She was born in Korea, but she came to Singapore at the age of nine. She enjoys playing tennis/golf, listening to music, hanging out with friends and family during her free time. She can be contacted at kim33424@sas.edu.sg.

Angel Lombardi is sophomore and this is her first year in SAS and the Eye. She was born in San Diego, California, since then she has lived in New Jersey, Canada, and New York. Meredith Machulski, Reporter

Meredith Machulski is a first-year Senior reporter for The Eye. She’s lived in Singapore for 10 years, and has two dogs named Fenway and Pepper that are cute and psycho. A few of her hobbies are acting, watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, doing makeup, and taking videos of everything. She can be contacted at machulski32912@sas.edu.sg.

Alan McDermott is a senior year this and it is his sixth year in Singapore. This is his very first year on The Eye. Some of his favorite activities are training in MMA, and hanging with his friends. Diya Navlakha,Reporter

Diya Navlakha is a junior in her tenth year at SAS. This is her second year as a part of The Eye. While considering India home, Diya spent her childhood in New York City and Singapore. Ji Yun Ok is a senior this year and it is her sixth year in Singapore. This is her first year in The Eye Some of her favorite things to do is to sleep, go traveling with her mom and watching movies. Zoe Ong is a senior and first-year reporter for The Eye. Originally from Irvine, California, this is her ninth year at SAS. She enjoys listening to different kinds of music (especially jazz), exploring local restaurants, and always saves room for dessert. Her hobbies include playing trombone, reading short stories and answering emails sent to ong33414@sas.edu.sg.

Sasha Quinlan is a second year reporter on The Eye. She is a junior and has attended SAS for the past 15 years. Some of her hobbies include writing, cheering, and eating sweet potatoes. She can be contacted at quinlan18229@sas.edu.sg.

Avanya Rao, Reporter

Avanya Rao is a Junior who has attended SAS for the last eleven years. She was born in Jakarta and moved to Singapore when she was six. This is her first year reporting for The Eye. When not binge-eating truffle fries, you can find Avanya crying in romantic comedies, petting other people’s’ dogs, spending time with her family,  and annoying her pals by losing snapchat streaks. This is Namrata’s second year on the Eye! Currently a senior, she’s better known as Nimi and is originally from Dallas, Texas. This is her fourth year at SAS and in Singapore. She enjoys playing tennis and eating chocolate lava cakes. Namrata can be contacted at ray45882@sas.edu.sg.

Sabrina Sain, Reporter
Sabrina Sain is a sophomore and is new to the The Eye this year.  Her favorite music artist is Frank Sinatra, however her guilty pleasure is rap.  When she is not at school, she enjoys finding aesthetic cafes, napping, writing poetry, coming up with bad puns, drinking bubble tea religiously, and most importantly, eating corn.  She can be contacted at sain41622@sas.edu.sg.


Hersh Singh is a senior and a first-year reporter on the eye. This is his second year in Singapore and prior to this, he lived in India for 4 years. Some of Hersh’s favorite activities include playing soccer and basketball, playing video games and watching movies.

Kai Suherwan, Reporter

Kai Suherwan is a Junior and his second year writing for The Eye. He is seen as the Republican/Conservative writer in The Eye and has been at SAS since 7th grade. He is heavily involved in Republican politics and enjoys discussing  current events. He hopes to work in the field foreign affairs one day. He can be contacted at: Suherwan45031@sas.edu.sg.

Kathryn Wilson, Reporter

Kathryn Wilson is a senior and a first year reporter for The Eye. She has been at SAS since kindergarten and has lived in Singapore for her whole life. If she’s not locked in her room studying, Kathryn can be found exploring cultural parts of Singapore, dancing with her friends, or embarrassing herself. Kristi Yang is a junior and second-year reporter for The Eye. She’s lived in Singapore and has attended SAS for the past five years; previously, she’s lived in New York/Jersey and Beijing. Kristi keeps up with current events through social media platforms, though is also an avid reader of the New York Times. In her free-time she can be found, figure skating, sweating through House of Pain, or bringing out her inner-yogi at yoga club. Kristi’s favorite things include: books, music, friends, journaling, dressing-up, apple-peeling, movie trailers, creating jingles, and reciting T.V. advertisements. Mr. Shackelford, Journalism and Film Teacher, Faculty Advisor to The Eye

Mr. Shackelford is new to both SAS and to The Eye.   He is a native of the US state of Virginia but spent significant parts of his life in South America and Europe.  In addition to serving as the The Eye’s faculty advisor, he teaches the filmmaking and journalism classes in the High School and remains determined to put a dent in a long list of self-prescribed must-do’s around the city of Singapore and throughout the region. “Shack” can be contacted at sshackelford@sas.edu.sg.
