Check out Mike Posner’s music! He’s cooler than you!

This dude is cooler than you.

Don’t know what I’m referring to? Let me remind you of this catchy tune.

That’s right! “Cooler Than Me” was sung by Mike Posner!

If you still have no idea who I’m talking about.. Well, you’ve been missing out!

“Cooler Than Me” was number six on the US Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 Single back in 2010. That was Mike Posner’s first hit single from his debut album 31 Minutes to Takeoff. Though he started out with humble beginnings – making mix tapes in his own dorm room at Duke University – Mike Posner never gave up his dream of becoming an artist.

His second mixtape, A Matter of Time, gained industry attention in 2009 when he was still in college. Yet, he still chose to finish his studies while pursuing his music career. Why?

According to an article, he said, “It was important to finish college since people in my family sacrificed a lot for me. And I’m proud of that. While I didn’t know if I would end up writing, producing or sitting behind a desk, I knew I’d end up doing something with music.”

His second and third singles, “Please Don’t Go” and “Bow Chicka Wow Wow,” reached the top 20 and 30 on the Hot 100 list respectively.

Flash forward to today, Mike Posner is now a successful singer, songwriter, and producer. He has produced and written songs for other artists including Maroon 5 (“Sugar”), Justin Bieber (“Boyfriend”), Labrinth & Emeli Sandé (“Beneath Your Beautiful”), Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg, Big Sean, Cher LLoyd, Olly Murs, and many more.

Mike Posner’s own music has also changed dramatically. He’s had his mix of hip-hop/rap, R&B and electropop music phases, like the ones in his 2009 mixtape One Foot Out The Door and his 2011 mixtape The Layover.

But currently, he seems to be transitioning into a much more poignant and downtempo style, like in “I Took A Pill In Ibiza.”

Check out his most recent song “Not That Simple,” and you’ll see a huge contrast!
