The criteria for graduation dress shopping is more ambiguous than prom: how long should the dress be? Are cut outs appropriate? What’s a good color? While it is worthless to lose sleep over it, it is important. After all, we all want to look good when we get our diplomas handed to us. In order to make shopping for the perfect dress a tad easier, I decided to utilize my online-shopping expertise (all those sad hours of looking are paying off) and offer some stores as suggestions.
#1: Xenia Boutique
Xenia is an Australian store that I have shopped at religiously. Before the words “Australian store” throw you off – don’t worry. American and Singaporean credit cards are both accepted. Because the store is in Australia, the shipping is super fast (I normally receive my shipments in 3-5 days of purchase). They are consistent with their sizing; a size 6 would fit a small to an extra small, an 8 a small or medium, and so on. White is the most popular color for graduating SAS girls throughout the years, and Xenia caters to a wide selection of white playsuits (rompers) and dresses. They come in various lengths, styles, and cutouts.
#2: Amazing Lace
Amazing Lace is a combination of the type of clothes you would find in American boutiques in the south and Free People. They offer more casual and flowy options. While I have ordered from them before, it wasn’t formal wear. However, the quality of their material is amazing.
Personally, this was a little out of my budget for a dress. But if you are willing to splurge on quality tailoring, Nordstrom is a good choice. The selection of dresses are a little more on the reserved side, but that being said, Nordstrom looks good on pretty much anyone. They must have known about SAS’s white trend: they have a whole section called “The White Dress Trend.”
#4 Free People
Free People is notorious for its high prices and bohemian look. To be fair, the dresses are insanely beautiful, well tailored, and in some cases, ornate. If you are willing to spree a little on the dress, Free People should definitely be a go to.
#5: Pink Ice
Pink Ice has fewer dresses than most online stores, but they make up for it in quality and reasonable pricing. They are a US-based brand, so shipping might be a tad more expensive, but you could always pop for free shipping by filling your cart with tops (they have a glorious range of tops). Be sure to check the reviews to make sure that the sizing doesn’t run small or large – which is often the case with U.S. brands.
#6: Love Culture
Love Culture is like pink ice – but with more products. The price range is appropriate for the style and quality tailoring. If you are struggling to find a perfect match, you will probably find it within Love Culture’s 500+ dress options.
#7: Siren London
If you have been strolling through Wanelo or some other time-consuming shopping app, you have probably stumbled upon several Siren London dresses. Some of the prices seem like a scam, but they are for real. The selection of apparel is thinner than other shops listed, but they are unique styles.
Whatever you choose to wear to grad, it will look phenomenal. Although white is a popular choice, don’t be discouraged from exploring other color options. Whatever you feel most comfortable in will look the best as you grab your diploma!
